Zeus, or what a smart paywall actually means

A paywall is not a screen. It is the moment an app decides what to ask of a person — and Zeus makes that decision with the numbers in front of it.

Every subscription app has one screen that pays for all the others. Most studios design it once, A/B test the button colour and leave it. We think that is where the interesting work starts.

Zeus is our subscription and revenue layer. It runs under every Codeon app, handles the boring parts (receipts, entitlements, restores, refunds) and then does the part off-the-shelf tools do not: it decides, per person, what to offer and when.

A pool owner who opened the app in May with a green pool does not need the same offer as one checking chlorine in November. Zeus watches what a person has already done, what people like them went on to do, and shapes the paywall to match — the plan, the price framing, the moment it appears.

None of it is a trick. The rule we hold Zeus to is simple: the offer has to be the one we would make to that person face to face. Smart, here, means paying attention, not pushing harder.

Zeus is not for sale, and will not be. It is the reason a studio our size can run seven products with one revenue model that actually learns.
